Woyo Taampha proverbial pot lid
€700.00
African taampha wooden pot lid carved with pictorial stories representing proverbs. These traditional Woyo (Kongo) lids had several uses but the main one was to express a thought, a reproach or advice.
The lid was placed on a food container which covered the meal served by a woman to her husband.
These lids were mainly used to resolve disputes, more or less serious, within a household. This might illustrate a particular complaint about their marital relationship: a wife's dissatisfaction with her husband.
