Kuba palm wine cup - SOLD OUT

In African art, so-called palm wine cups are known to be royal art objects among the Kuba. They are most often seen in cephalomorphic form. Important stylistic variations can occur depending on the regions and sculptors of the kingdom. Here, a monoxyl Kuba cup composed of two heads. The faces are masterfully sculpted and represent individuals dear to its owner.

The small handle is well preserved. Note the attention to detail in the chiselling of the ridged caps.
