Songye Nkishi fetish - SOLD OUT

Fetish in African art

Astonishing African Songye statue presenting itself as a fetish loaded at the level of the trunk. If the Songye nkishi statues generally present a visible trunk with a rounded abdomen surrounded by the hands, this quite atypical piece has a crusty magical charge encompassing the trunk. Note also the top load instead of the classic horn loaded with decoctions which only diviners have the secret.

Statues of power were used by the Songye to protect their owner against bad luck, misfortune, disease and lightning.
