Nkanu figure - SOLD OUT

African statue from the Nkanu, an ethnic group close to the Yaka in Suku in the south of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It represents a drummer during a conductor induction ceremony. Note the sculptural quality of the face and the stylization of the headdress.

The patina testifies to the undeniable age of the piece. We can still observe the little adze strokes that were used to design this figurine.

At the African and ethnographic art museum in Brussels "AfricaMuseum", many equivalent pieces are presented in the permanent collection. Piece added in the 1950s.
