Guro figure
African statue of Gouro origin in Ivory Coast. It is customary to represent the figures on small Akan style stools. Here, a woman seated with a very finely chiseled headdress, hands resting on her knees as a sign of dignity.
The bright red patina that covers the skin generally refers to Western settlers; So it would seem that although the features are Africanized, the character is in fact a European woman.
