Kongo Nkisi figure
Magic object in African art
African nkisi-type wooden statue whose arms are bent, hands resting on hips in a welcoming position. A square abdominal cavity is clearly visible. The diviner once placed a magical charge on it.
Traditional statuettes of this type were used for problem solving.
The figure is standing, slightly leaning forward, a sign of aggression intended to ward off bad luck.
