Chokwe Luena Pwo dancer figure - SOLD OUT
A true masterpiece of African art, discover this Chokwe or Luena statue wearing a Pwo or Mwana Pwo mask of a beautiful woman. It represents the male dancer wearing the famous mask of beautiful woman representing the young woman in the prime of life who must marry. The face is therefore remarkably sculpted with the cross called "chingelyengelye" as well as scarifications on the cheeks and temples.
The body of this African statue meanwhile streaked like a zebra and in fact represents the costume worn by the dancer, costume in braided fibers. This statue comes from a Belgian collection. Details are provided to the buyer along with a document. This is a testimony of ethnographic interest in addition to being an exceptional piece worthy of a museum.
