African wooden mask whose rim is adorned with cowries. It is easily identified as a Kpeliye mask from the Senoufo, in Côte d'Ivoire. This is one of Africa's most iconic traditional type of mask. Used in an initiatory context relating to agrarian rites. This one has a bird's head at its top.
