Teke mask - SOLD OUT
Cubism and african art
This Bateke African mask is one of the only masks sculpted by the Teke ethnic group of the Tsaye on the border with Gabon. The dance masks are made for the Kidumu company. They are easily recognizable and highly appreciated by the world of art collectors in general. The shape of this mask, the pigmentation as well as the iconography used by the Teke master sculptors make this type of masks true avant-garde works of art from which great European painters were largely inspired in the first part of the 20th century.
