Tribal mask - Kota Mbete - SOLD OUT
Rare African mask from Ambete, a group close to Bakota
The face is slightly reminiscent of the Ngil masks of the Fang.
Mbete is classically a heavy eyebrow that overlooks the eyes.
The worn patina testifies to the use of this mask. There are residues of white and red pigments.
To breathe life into him, pieces of mirror were embedded in the eyes.
The traditional masks of Gabon were studied late because the poor storage conditions related to hygrometry and xylophagous insects make these masks uncommon.
