Salampasu passport mask

Salampasu masks are famous and are characterized by a rounded forehead, slanted eyes, a triangular nose and a rectangular mouth with filed teeth. It was used for initiation ceremonies related to the society of warriors. (The tribal arts of Africa, Jean-Baptiste Bacquart, p180)
Miniature African mask certainly intended to be hung in a box, collected in Belgium, most probably from the 1940s - 1960s.
