Bamana people: Art and initiation of Koré 

In African Bambara / Bamana art, there are six initiatory societies of great importance. They teach understanding of everything about the nature and destiny of the human being. The Koré society is the ultimate one, one that is only accessible after a long apprenticeship that aims to rid the wanzo impurity. This old mask has been proportionally very well preserved considering its age.
