Makonde Ndimu mask - SOLD OUT

This pregnant belly mask is part of the initiation material for young boys.
A dance imitates childbirth. The transition to adult status takes place for girls and boys through initiation.
The latter are confined for several months to exercise their main future activities. The initiation rites include training in sexuality and the obligations of married life.
At the end of the boys' isolation, festivities are organized, and the return to community life is celebrated with ceremonies.
