Lega Muminia mask - SOLD OUT

This Lega mask belongs to the category of muminia. Compared to lukwakongo type masks, this one has larger dimensions. These masks are used during initiations leading to the second grade of the highest bwami of the lutumbo lwa yananio grades. The owner and guardian of this mask was an insider of the highest level from the second highest grade of bwami. We observe here many details such as scarifications and a toothed mouth. This last element is typical of the northern regions of the Lega country having undergone a stylistic influence of the Kumu and other groups of the Ituri regions.
