Dan Wakemia spoon
Offered to express gratitude for the hospitality of elderly women among the Dan people in Côte d'Ivoire, these spoons are called Wakemia. Their anthropomorphic appearance is linked to their use during festivals or ceremonial banquets and signifies the status of their owner.
The concept of this object has a longstanding presence among the Dan people as well as their neighboring We community.
