Dan Deangle mask - SOLD OUT
The traditional Dan masks stand out for their clean appearance. A slightly concave face accommodates a few balanced features which constitute the elements of the face. The eyes are sometimes in the form of circular holes, sometimes in the form of fine slits as seen here. The nose and mouth project forward.
There are many types of masks among the Dan, among which we can name Zakpai, Zei-Ge, etc.
The African mask here is of the Deangle type; he is imbued with serenity and gentleness through his features embodying the ideal of beauty inherent in their culture. Dan culture is heavily imbued with beliefs in the supernatural forces of the bush.
