Yoruba Gelede helmet mask - SOLD OUT
There are a multitude of masks linked to the Gelede festivities among the Yoruba. They are most often eccentric and very colorful; the sculptors give free rein to their wildest inspiration for the realization of these masks. It also happens that the dancers themselves make their masks. The dances in which masks such as this one come out still take place today.
Here, a traditional African zoomorphic Yoruba mask depicting an aggressive hyena or dog being ridiculed by the small hat placed on its head.
