Small mask presenting the characteristic elements of the Pende masks, with geometric patterns and the presence of colored pigments.
In our case, this mask Mbuya jia kifutshi danced in the village during the reintegration of the young circumcised.
Most Mbuya are made of wood, carved in the style called katundu (actually gatundo), named after one of the important chiefdoms of central Pende, whose localities of Nyoka-Munene and Musanga-Lubwé formed during the twentieth century the main artistic centers.
