Ziba mask
Apart from the Makonde, few traditional masks from Tanzania have reached us.
This African mask was sculpted by the Ziba, a people settled along the shores of Lake Victoria.
Their masks keep a rustic side but also very geometric with their shape, their eyes and their rectangular mouths.
Furthermore, the latter could be filled with human teeth, empty cavities of which can be seen here around the edge of the mouth.
