Senoufo heddle pulley

Traditional art from West Africa
Weaving is a common activity in West Africa. This essential activity gave birth to art objects such as loom pulleys, an old and authentic copy of which is offered here. These objects are also found among the Baule, Dan and other ethnic groups.
If the basic support is always the same, the shapes vary greatly, from the more naturalistic to the more stylized. Here, a pecking bird's head surmounts the arch.
It is an object that is more ethnographic than purely ritual, but we can see that it was the medium for artistic expression.
