Luba Lubuko oracle

Art and divination in the Luba kingdom
In Luba culture, divination occupies an important place. Men and women could be priests and priestesses and this end uses Lubuko objects of different types, such as oracles to be held in the hand, calabashes, horned figurines, and more. Here, this apparently sketchy object was originally supposed to include a horn stuck in the top of the skull, itself loaded with magical materials. The object was held in hand by the cylindrical trunk.
