Zei Ge Mask - Dan Mano - SOLD OUT

The variety of traditional masks in Dan art in Ivory Coast

The Dan sculptors and neighboring ethnic groups have created a rich variety of dance masks, including this ze-ye richly decorated with cowries on its perimeter. We find some stylistic constants such as smooth curved forehead, fine nose and projection like the mouth, and almost closed eyes. These are also covered with clear pigment, an element sometimes found on some masks. It seems that this type of mask was part of the ancestor cult.

This authentic mask of Africa is offered by our gallery at a price well below the estimate established by the experts of the independent platform Catawiki. You are certain to make a good deal by buying it at this price.
