Kongo Yombé Mask
Kongo Yombé mask in the style of the master of Kasadi.
This mask is used ritually by the Nganga diphemba diviner. Naturalist, oval in shape, the pierced mouth shows incised teeth, large pierced eyes with raised eyebrows.
Because of its naturalism, this mask can be considered an idealized portrait, probably of an important ruler, it could even be the representation of the king of Congo or the mythical founder of the Kongo kingdom.
This mask comes from the private collection of a famous Belgian painter and expert in extra-European art, it will be accompanied by its personalised base.
