Statuary among the Lega

These statuettes were kept in a basket belonging to several ritual communities that cooperated in important initiations. Each figure had an esoteric meaning. This statuette with folded arms and hands, with a white kaolin face, represents a man who would have settled an important conflict by his arbitration.
