Kokole Kwain mask of the Dja - Yaure - Ivory Coast

€280.00

This mask with a remarkable patina and a lovely symmetry has a summit panel topped by four cylindrical appendices, which extremities are inlaid with a light coloured pigment. We can also find triangular motifs, recurrent in the Yaure artistic corpus. In fact, the openworked crenellation on the beard refers to that. The hairdo is composed of three lobes, which were also finely carved and decorated with triangular motifs. This is a protection mask. Origin : private collection, FranceDating : 1960'sSize : 46 x 22 cmMaterial : wood
