Dance mask - Ligbi - SOLD OUT

African mask Ligbi Koulango

This fascinating kind of authentic mask was used for dancing during the celebration of Islamic festivals, especially the end of Ramadan. These traditional masks, during the execution, were adorned with jewels. With its side wings (a distinctive feature Ligbi), the sculpture shows the influence of the Senufo mask "Kpelie". However, curved downcast eyes and the use of pigments are typical of Ligbi works.
