Songye Katatora Kashekesheke Divination oracle - SOLD OUT

African divination egg Katatora / Kashekesheke Songye

African objects of this type were used as part of kashekesheke divination rituals, katatora by the soothsayer. In general, it is "Luboko", a term that brings together all Songye divination objects. They assimilate to Nkishi-type pieces, well-known protective statues.

The oracle was held by the diviner and his client, various manipulations were then carried out. The wood itself is supposed to be magical. The small head that surmounts the room has features that are quite characteristic of the Songye style. The statue has a ring-shaped trunk that allows the client and the diviner to hold it in one hand. Remarkable element on this oracle Songye, the presence of a janiform head. Our gallery specialized in tribal art offers this African object at a price lower than the estimate established by the Catawiki experts.
