This African Lombi mask comes from the far east of the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the Umaniema region. Its simple stylization corresponds to the treatment of masks in this region. However, there is a foot welded to the chin, acting as a handle. There is a tradition in the tribal art of this region of small masks worn by hand in front of the face. They can also be placed on altars dedicated to ancestor worship.
