This African mask comes from central Liberia.

The style of the Bassa tribal art masks was influenced by the Dan sculptures of the Côte d'Noire.

The male society No dances these masks named Gela which are female representations.

They are worn at the end of the boys' initiation and during performances organized to honor distinguished visitors.
