Female figure - Makonde - Mozambique - SOLD OUT

Traditional statuary in the art of Mozambique

The Makonde are one of the few ethnic tribes of East Africa prolific in tribal art. Nevertheless, if Lipiko masks are well known, the statues are very much, especially when, as here, the statue has a relatively unusual typology.

The only authentic copy of a statue similar to this one is kept at the Linden Museum (Stuttgart), it can be deduced that they come from the same sculptor's studio or from the same restricted area.

This type of room will delight lovers of unusual objects very unusual.
