Authentic Zamble Mask - Guro - Ivory Coast - SOLD OUT

The african type mask Zamblé in the traditional art Gouro

African zamblé masks form a triad with gu and zauli masks. They are related to the mythical mythical figure Zamblé which presents itself in an elongated anthropo-zoomorphic form, surmounted by antelope horns indicating its age. The eyes underlined by circles of bright color represent those of the panther. It is the male image that dances with that of Gu's feminine beauty; Zauli, zoomorph, comes to play the spoilsport. In most Gouro villages, this cult is the property of a determined family that manages this festive celebration. Zamblé also intervenes at the funeral. Among the Gouro, the traditional masks have the particularity of having rather aesthetic elongated features.
